Music Recomendations

Post by fluteluversmom »

I am always looking for new music for my daughter to try.
Does anyone have any recomendations of any music that you enjoy playing? We are
basically looking for something intermediate to advanced. Solo''s or duets
would be great. She tends to enjoy classical ones. Thanks, Kim

You could try Syrinx, I wouldnt call it classical (its
actually impressionistic) but its something different. Also you could try Danse
de la Chèvre (which translates to dance of the goat) so yeah, if u read the
whole story I'm sure it will be quite fun for u. Fred Shade's book "40 for
flute" has unaccompanied solos in it, so it would be good! Danse de la Chèvre is
in it and I'm not sure about Syrinx, anyway u could find it easily, hope this
helps!

Thanks for the replies. I did just order Syrinx and I am
thinking that she will enjoy it as I have heard good things about it. I think I
will order that Fred Shades book also..she has a few duet books but not much for
solo books that are interesting for her to play. Kim

It might be a good idea to find some recordings of
Syrinx. Its quite an interesting piece and everyone seems to add their own
personal style to it, some very and maybe even too drastically. James Galway has
made a recording of it. I personally like it slowed down a bit more than how he
plays it but still, as always with James Galway, it sounds amazing! I'd also be
interested if anyone else knew of any other artists who have recorded this piece
:)
