Penny~ I am glad that we cleared that up LOL. My

and Etudes for the Developing Flutist by Gilliam and McCaskill and Classic Duets

Do you take private lessons ?

Hi! I have had 3 flute teachers. The first one was
the kind you find at small music stores like you know they don't really know
how to read music ect. He taught me basicly how to blow in the flute and hold
it. He didn't teach me the right way to finger some of the notes like Eb middle
register so now I have a little bit of a habit of playing it wrong (he didn't
even know how to play the flute! we were clueless about music back then[:p]).
Then I had a teacher that was first chair in our local orchestra. She was a
really good player. BUT she was not a very good teacher. I basicly went there,
played a song and left. Well I got a new one just 2 weeks ago and I love her
teaching. Shes the kind that talks almost nonstop giving you tons of info. I
guess my piont is that not all teachers are good teachers even though they are
good players. Oh by the way. I take 30 min. a week.[:)]

That had to be difficult to go through so many
teachers. Hope you remain happy with your current teacher. You are to be
commended [:halo:] for your determination, a lessor player would have quit or
switched instruments. Some kind of guide or recommendation list sure would be
helpful for new players. It would be interesting to add the cost of private
lessons in your area to this discussion. From what I have seen $15 for a half
hour seems to be pretty common for quality teachers.
