Hi everybody,
I'm thinking of trasnferring private teachers. I've learned a lot with my current flute teacher, but now his teaching style isn't really matching my needs. He knows his stuff...he just isn't very pushy or ambitious...etc. I can't really explain, but I feel like I'm getting held back at times by just the way he teaches...I'm thinking of transferring different teachers who'll help me grow. I found the perfect teacher, but now I don't know how to leave my current teacher without being impolite or rude. Any tips?

Don't lie or make excuses, just be polite and honest. Tell him that you appreciate all that he has done to help you grow as a flutist, but that you feel that you are ready to be exposed to some different teaching styles and different approaches to playing. There's nothing rude or impolite about that.
