Flute etudes book?

Can someone recomend a good book with short etudes? The book I have is by Mary Clardy and the etudes kind of go on and on for 2 pages. It gets a little monotonous.

it all depends at which level you're at...

Beginner : you could go with Gariboldi's Etudes mignonnes 0p.131 or Moyse's 24 petites études mélodiques avec variations (faciles).

Intermediate : Berbiguier's Eighteen Exercices or Etudes for the flute or Cavally's Melodious and progressive Studies Book 1 & 2. Also There's Andersen's 24 studies for flute solo op. 33

Advanced : Cavally's Melodious and progressive Studies Book 3 or Andersen's 24 studies for flute solo op. 15. Or the Quarante-Huit études de virtuosité from Marcel Moyse are good too.

The repertoire is vast but these are good choices.

Thanks for the info. I have only been playing one year and 8 months so I guess that put me in the beginner catagory.

So what is considered intermediate? I have been playing for just under two years but I don't feel like I'm at an intermediate level.

doesn't have much to do with the number of years of playing. You could have played for 10 years and still be at beginner level, if you don't work on intermediate technical stuff and repertoire.

It all depends on what you can master in terms of technical skills; embouchure, intonation, vibrato, articulation, scales and arpeggios. It goes together and present different levels.

You have to chose etudes that are consistent with the level of mastery you have. Too easy you won't progress, too difficult, you won't be able to play them properly...
