Looking for suggestions

Post by phil the fluter »

I play a Boehm flute, closed hole, C foot. But I only play Irish Traditional so no vibrato and almost no tonguing. I would use a keyless flute but I hate all the cross fingering with their muffled notes. I've never had a lesson because I don't know where to look for a teacher. I've seen and heard a few people who use a modern flute to play Irish music but they're rare as hens teeth. All suggestions are welcome.

Dr. Andra Bohnet at the University of South ALabama, the flute professor there, plays irish music on a boehm flute, and she is VERY good. I don't know if she offers lessons on-line or what, but you could at least contact her.

Good luck.
