harder to be 1st chair?
Since there usually more flutes (clarinets and
trumpets, trombone) than any other instrument in the band is it harder to get
first chair playing the flute? I mean how many tuba players are there? Like 1-4?
Whoa really hard to be the best there [:((] but like for the flute since there
are so many doesn''t it make it THAT much harder?

harder to be 1st chair?
It could be harder in the sense that there is
more competition because the section is larger. I think it is a matter of hard
work and lots of practice. My daughter is in a band with 14 flutes and there are
quite a few good players and there are a few that don't appear to work very
hard. Most schools have a system of determining chairs. If you work hard and
practice everyday it can pay off. There is a girl in my daughters school that
was new last year and was sitting last chair. She asked my daughter for tips and
worked hard over the summer and this year she will be sitting 4th chair. So you
could be in a section of 3 or in a section of 20 and it all depends on how many
are working hard to improve and practicing. If you can afford private lessons
that will be a big help also Kim

harder to be 1st chair?
i would say it all depends on how hard you
work. in middle school we had 14 flutes and i was first chair. i just worked
harder than the other people and it wasnt too hard. this year im ahead of
sophmores and 1st chair in high school. if you want to become first chair make
it a goal, work really hard and im sure you could do it.it all depends on how
dedicated you really are to the flute, and wanting to do the best you can.

harder to be 1st chair?
at my school it's like 11 or 12 flutes, and i
think its really easy to make first chair on any instrument, but i also think
that 1st chair or any chair is utterly stupid and i dont see why people get so
worried over it...

harder to be 1st chair?
Fluter Jenn has got it licked. It aint hard to
be first chair in school. In band you may have 10 kids on flute. 7 or 8 of em
are just havin fun. 2 or 4 care to some degree. So you only have to beat out 1
or 2. If you work hard you can be tops of da heap. Not sure it gets ya anywhere
but if thats your goal, do it. Ya probably gotta practice like a half hour a day
and thats pretty boring but hey do it with the TV on

God F-diddy you crack me up every time you
post, And where in the H@!! did you get a purple flute? My two sence is this, if
you practice all day and hate it you wont learn a whole lot, that why when I
teach at scholl I act like an idiot. stimulates the kids and they tend to
remeber. If you enjoy practicing and can make it fun youll retain more, Problem
is I cant tell you how to make it more enjoyable maybe a speaker phone and
practice with a friend over it. I used to stress for hours and hours over one
guitar solo snd become so fustrasted untill I joined a band wiht friends then we
just hung out and played. another thing I found is that when I droppped the
guitar for a day or two I always played much better. It was always like lifting
wieghts for me, Id lift all day and be physically weeker but yet two day later I
could lift more. Iam rambling again Sorry Bill

harder to be 1st chair?
Yeah, you basically only have to beat like
maybe 2-3 because the other flutes don't really care much so you're not in
competition with them. Just practice and enjoy it and you'll be fine. Unless,
of course, you're like me and you're sitting beside a girl who's been playing
since she was 6! (7 years) But I am currently first chair (somehow) and I am
also first chair in the county and hopefully in the district, soon. We have a
chairs test tomorrow, wish me luck!

If you live in a fairly big county where you
have beaten out a few hundred flute players to be first chair all county you are
probably a pretty good player. First chair in many bands aren't very good. But
when you have to beat out first chairs from a dozen or so schools there are
probably a few decent players in the group so congrats on being first chair all
county
