Missing Piano Accompaniment Parts from Schott Music

Post by Konstantin »

A couple of months ago, I bought a book of flute music with CD accompaniment titled “Baroque Play-Along” by Schott music, part of the “Schott Master Play-Along Series.” The cover advertises that “Piano accompaniments available as PDF files on the CD, ready for print-out.”

I like the music, and the CD accompaniment, however, the piano parts are not on the CD. I noticed inside the book, it stated ”Please contact marketing@schott-music.com to obtain the PDF files.” I contacted this address, and never received a response. I also visited Schott’s website, and filled out a form there. After no response, I contacted Hal Leonard, the distributor. Hal Leonard never responded. I went back to the store where I bought the book, Central Music in Phoenix. The owner was no help at all, and did not seem to care. I realize, the initial responsibility for this problem comes from Schott music, however, Hal Leonard distributed a faulty product, and Central Music sold a faulty product, and neither one were willing to do anything about it.

I would like to buy more of these books in the series, since I am happy with the arrangements and the CD accompaniment, but I will not buy anymore until I can find the accompaniment parts.

Do any of you have any ideas? If any of you have this PDF file, would you email it to me? I feel this would not be a copyright infringement, since I am entitled to it anyway.

Thank you for your help
Dean

I found the download on the webpage:
http://www.schott-music.com/shop/1/show,230587.html

In general, when I have problems with a business and have tried to fix the problem through normal channels, I have had luck submitting complaints to the better business bureau.

Thank You. That is exactly what I was looking for. It makes me wonder why neither Schott nor Hal Leonard could let me know about it. And I am sure the owner of the music store knew about it. He sells a lot of Schott music.

Almost a month later, I will add closure to this subject. To be fair, Hal Leonard finally did send me an email, directing me to the same website mentioned above. It is unfortunate that they took almost a month to respond.
