Sur Le Pont D'avignan

Post by Fox »

I finally got the nerve to record myself. This is a part of Sur Le Pont D'avignan from the beginners practice book

You taught yourself flute? WOW! You did a good job. Just don't forget to have fun. Too many people get so caught up in just working toward the next chalenge and the next level. Also when you have fun I truely believe that your whole body changes because your having fun and it changes your sound. Keep on at it. Go out where your not afraid to just play and go abolutly crazy! It doesn't matter how it sounds and you don't have to play any songs, but just play whatever comes to you. It doesn't even have to make sense. I do this when I am so held down by my music that I get so frustrated. It really helps me. :)

Very true asamd74! I've been mostly teaching myself, but Wednesday I begin with a formal teacher - I've gotten to the point where I can not really progress on my own any more.

I totally agree with you ... when I practice I usually keep the last five minutes for simple and/or silly stuff - those last five minutes fly by twice as fast as the formal work. I don't worry about tone or anything! Plus, it's the reward for trudging through the exercises.
