Hi! I''m just wondering what kind of pieces people are
playing, and their levels. Not everyone on this site will under the same grading
system so I''m just curious about the pieces people play!

Well, I am working on My Heart Will Go On(Theme from the
Titanic). My daughter is working on Mozart's duet "Vivat Bacchus, Bacchus
lebe". I am not sure about levels as they are not stressed here where we live,
but I have ordered music that is rated 2 + and 3's from Fluteworld for my
daughter. It is funny how different states have grading systems that they stress
and some states do not. Kim

currently i've been somewhat forced to learn bits and
parts of certain pieces especially with taped auditions coming ahead for grad
school. so that pretty much means the basic - mozart 1st and 2nd movements (the
expositions), bach e major sonata, ibert 3rd movement (just a little more than
the first page), and lots and lots of orchestral excerpts. i'm also learning
entire pieces like jolivet chant de linos, mower sonata latino, and the
liebermann concerto. i plan on doing some simpler pieces like the gary shocker
three mystery pieces and schubert's song gute nacht arranged by boehm.

Thanks for your replies. I'm currently just getting
Syrinx together for an audition, but my main piece at the moment is Quantz's
Concerto in G Major, I'm actually very interested to see and hear any cadenzas,
the one I have is by Rampal and the one on a CD I have is by another player
(forget his name at the moment) and I'm quite interested in seeing more. Also
I'm doing a Koehler exercise, a Bach sonata and a Mozart piece plus millions of
scales and technique stuff, ALL with a metronome, yuck! lol! Well these things
have to be done, plus other band stuff, but it's pretty simple so I don't
really have to practice that. Well I'm still interested in what everyone else
is doing, and also now I'm interested in knowing if anyone knows of any other
cadenzas for Quantz's Concerto in G Major, thanks!

hi! I am doing Syrinx right now too. I really like it
since so much of it is up for interpretation. Impressionistic music is awesome
like that, so you can add your own pushes and pulls. Especially since its
unaccompanied.

as long as i have music, as long as there''s a song for me to sing, i can find
my way, i can see a brighter day, the music in my life will set my spirit
free..

Have you tried looking in hymnals???? The top line is
melody and most often consists of notes that are only on the staff....[;)]

find the sheet music? I'd love to play the lower note (& my dog would be happy)
but I can't seem to find any music? I have my instructor now looking for fun,
easy music to help me while I'm learning the necessary stuff. But so far I
haven't found any. Hopefully I can get to our music store today. I've looked
at the sites that have been mentioned and so far I can't find anything at those
sites with the notes I know. I can do 17 notes comfortably.

You could try going to a near by church and asking to
borrow a hymnal.... I don't think they would be too stingy... but I don't
know..... hmmmm......
