Octaves

Post by Bo »

When I change octaves, it doesn't always sound "smooth". Any tips on how to improve it?

Thanks,
Bo

Can u explain more? Are we talking a mid piece octave change? If this is the case, its just a confort thing and practice. Whats ur warmup?

I usually warm up with scales. I don't know what's wrong with switching octaves sometimes it sounds like it's cracking.

Any issue is resolved with proper practice.
Intervals is not different. But there is something crucial to doing that well. The more you have flexibility in your lips, the more you improve intervals. In this case, being flexible doesn't mean your lips must be loose, but they must be properly positioned so the interval sounds in tune and with a good balance of color and dynamics between the notes.
Keeping them well hydrated is also a key. Dry lips just don't work.
