headjoint or better flute?

Post by Flutemaiden »

I' m an intermediate adult player using a pearl 665. I will be attending the nfa this year and will be shopping for an upgrade. I'm thinking of just upgrading my headjoint but am wondering if i should upgrade my entire flute. My budget is up to $1,000. Realistically my budget lends itself more towards the headjoint so my question is what advice everyone has about this Thanks

A headjoint is your best bet. But, most handmade headjoints sell for between $1200-1400. And those are only solid silver (with no other precious metal upgrades). I would try to increase the budget by a few hundred between now and August. I too will be attending NFA and will be shopping for a whole new setup of instruments... that is... if I can get the money together.

The mechanism on a Pearl 665 body is definitely worth upgrading the headjoint.
