help with vibrato

Post by jac »

Hi again

I am getting on a lot better with my playing, but have now started to try to do some vibrato, and am really struggleing, it sounds really forced and i run out of breath really quickly

Is there any helpful tips or is it just loads of practise.

Thanks

While I like a lot of Nina's videos, I prefer this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0yCw9xm ... re=related

It's one by Galway. I really like his approach to vibrato and it completely changed the way I do mine. Since I changed my method to his (with a slight tweak by Jim Walker but not a method change- just usage) I have gotten great reviews on my vibrato. My tone and vibrato are almost always the first two things that are complimented.

But it's whatever works for you! They have very similar methods. I just like the way he presents his better. I mean, for one he takes the time to explain the vibrato mechanism whereas she just jumps straight into exercises without explaining HOW to do vibrato.

And if you want a laugh, watch the videos by expertvillage. Do not however follow any of their advice. They're awful.

UPDATE:

I just lyke... watched s0me vide0s by exPerT viLlaGe, and tHeY were... Lyke, omg awe-S0me! So t0t@lly f@nt@bul0us that I Lyke lost those BrIan sm&rt thangys... IQ p0int$! Ye@h!1 Them! LOLZ!!!!!1!!!1111!!!ONESHIFTONE!
