Does anyone have experience with a platinum riser on a gold tube?, I am currently evaluateing headjoints, and have played a platinum on 998, but have only heard of one other platinum on gold (was FS @ nussbaums) but it sold,,I am considering a 9K (gold on silver) Burkart, or 10K with SS emb.
The 10K is what I was considering adding the riser too, but didn't want too spend that much for an experiment, because it would have too be custom made, it wouldn't be exchangeable

Yes, I play a Williams headjoint that is 14K white gold tube with 14K rose gold embouchure and platinum riser. I tried a lot of different configurations and this was the one that really wowed me. I was not planning on buying a headjoint in this price range, but the sound difference convinced both me and my wife. You may have different results, but for me, the gold/platinum combination was perfect.
In another posting, I detailed the various combinations that I tried:

I own a Nagahara headjoint with 14K tube and platinum riser. I acctually could not choose from many options during the order fase, but based on many comments and inputs from many people I decided blindly that it should be the configuration for me.
The results are very good indeed. It has sort of a mellow tone from the gold, but lots of volume and a really vast amount of possible dynamics, possibly because of the platinum.
Detail: I use this Nagahara head with a Sankyo 14K body, which is in turn a workhorse in terms of precision and durability of the mechanism.
