Selling scams

Post by MissyHPhoenix »

I am looking into selling my alto flute and have a few things I need to get clear, please.

I know to watch out for the people who want to send me a check for additional funds and have me "wire" them the extra back. I specifically put in the ad that I only accept Paypal, but so far all of the offers have wanted to pay me by money order, cashiers check, or wire transfer. I had heard that there was a lot of counterfeit money orders going around, but what about cashiers checks? Also, is it chancy to accept a payment via wire transfer? I could take a personal check, but I would need to wait, what, at least a week to make sure it doesn't bounce, right? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Good questions!
I don't know the answers but I would suggest that you err on the side of caution!

Hey Missy!

If you are going to take a check, wait till the funds clear before you send off the instrument!

These days, unless I can meet the person face to face, I generally would stick with the Paypal! Even with Paypakl scams are possible as well.

Accept PAy pal ONLY,,,I mean ONLY,,,all of those responses are scams, it can take as much as 30 days for a fake check to come back too you, and you will be responsible to the bank forr all the money plus fees and leagle counsel, ALSO YOU MAY BE LIABLE FOR CRIMINAL CHARGES if you put a fake instrument (not musical) through your bank,,,,SO Face to Face or Pay Pal only good luck
