HELP!!!
Hey ya''ll! I just got my flute today and I''m trying to
play the basic scale and am having a little trouble (actually a LOT of trouble)
getting it to make any sound. It works most of the time but like whenever I move
the flute I can''t find the position I had when it was working. Any help or
advice would be greatl appreciated!

HELP!!!
Hi, How exciting to get your flute !! First of all I would
suggest just working with the headjoint and a mirror until you can get a solid
sound. Play with it a bit....until you hit your "sweet spot" as some people call
it. As the sound comes easier try to move that sound low to high and soft to
loud. If you want to make the sound go lower you need to cover the end of the
headjoint with one of your hands. Experiment with how much of the hole you are
covering with your top lip. Another tip would be when you are looking into the
mirror and blowing you should see a bit of fog forming a triangle in the center
of the bottom of the whole. HTH let us know how you are doing. Kim

HELP!!!
Thanks for your help! Btw, just what is the headjoint? I'm all
new to this flute stuff. I mean, my best friend plays flute, which is one of the
reasons I wanted to get one in the first place, and I play piano but I'm really
new with flute.

HELP!!!
So there's three pieces to my flute, right? I'm guessing
it's the headjoint (which you blow into), then the middle and end pieces,
right?

HELP!!!
Hi~ Yes, the HEADJOINT is the part that has the lip plate with
the embouchure hole that you blow into. The next part of the flute and has the
most keys is referred to as the BODY Finally the smallest part on the end is
called the FOOTJOINT. This website below has a drawing with the flute parts
labeled. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/music/ ... wers.shtml HTH,

HELP!!!
okay.... let's say that you are holding your flute correctly
with the mouthpiece to your face and your left hand on the first three keys with
little plastic or cork plugs in it (that is if you have an open-holed flute) or
just the first three keys and the longer key that your pinky goes on ... that is
where your left hand goes... and those are the keys on the top row of the
chart.... and your left thumb goes in one of two places.... you will notice two
keys for your left thumb... the one closer to the head joint is the b-flat thumb
key and is shown on the chart as a cirlce and the key that is longer and kinda
attached to it is the other left thumb key and shown as a line on the chart.....
now for the right hand... there are also three keys that may have plastic plugs
in ( if, again it is open holed...) those are the keys shown on the chart for
the right hand.... there is no place for your right thumb .... now for the right
pinky.... this can be confusing... but, as a beginner you just need to worry
about the one key that is first on the foot joint... line it up to where the
center of the key lines up with the screw of the foot joint and that first key
is the one you will use.... Here is a sample diagram of that web site.... left
hand-> oool oool <-right hand left thumb->ol I know that this can seem very
confusing... but take your flute out and try to follow what I said and if it
doesn't click... tell me [;)] GOOD LUCK!!!! I hope that helped

1, I haven't been on here for a few days. Um, I'm not really able to try what
you said right now cuz I'm doing about a bazillion (i love that #!) things at
once and the kids are going to sleep so I can't have the light on. I'll try
asap though, k?[]
