I have noticed that we have new members joining here
almost everyday. I was just thinking that it might be a good thing to have a
sort of roll call like they have on other message boards. Maybe this would make
it easier for some of the newer members to jump in and join in the posting. For
safety reasons I don''t think posting locations is a good idea. Just tell us a
little about yourself.

I will go first LOL My name is Kim and I am one of the
middle age flute players. I played the flute in school from 4th grade until I
graduated. I work in retail and have spent quite a bit of time doing adoption
searches and working on my family tree. Geneology is a favorite hobby of mine
besides playing the flute. Kim

Cate here. Started playing piano at 7, flute at 9, guitar
at 10 and was most likely born singing. Stopped playing flute and Piano mid-high
school, but came back about 3-4 years ago, through playing at my church. I love
playing with my 2 daughters (harp & violin), my husband plays a mean radio (ha,
ha - bad family joke). I'm a programmer by day. I particularly love early
music, folk and celtic music, world music and baroque. That's why you'll often
hear me pipe up about alternate types of flutes. It's really fun to experiment,
especially if you aren't in a group or orchestra. Welcome to the new folks.
I've only been here a month or so myself.

Name's Nancy and I've been playing the flute since
Christmas day. I started playing piano early this year (like around Feb i think)
and love that although i'm not that good yet. Having Korean teachers wasn't
the best cuz we could hardly communicate at all but now that I have an American
teacher I've learned a lot more. I'm a junior in highschool, homeschooled, and
have 7 siblings. I don't know what else to say so I'll leave ya for
now.[]

hi my name is rick, I have been playing since school
started. I notice many old people post here too, but hey thats cool. I would not
play it if my mom or dad was into the same instrument as me. I am happy they let
me go to my room and play. They buy me music if I need it and all, but they stay
out of my way. I want to be a jazz player and can't wait to leave this boring
classical stuff behind.

Rick, There is an old recording by Claude Bolling and
Jean Pierre Rampal called "Suite for flute and Jazz Piano". It will give you
something to work on while your band directors keep you working on basics (Yeah,
it might be boring, but you'll be thankful later).

Hi everyone! My name is Scarlett, I have been playing the
flute for about 4 years now. I also play piccolo in marching band. Tomorrow I
should be getting my first open hole flute!!! See, I received a new flute for
Christmas, but a few of the keys were not functioning properly, and it was a new
flute!!! So, tomorrow's the day that I get a new one. I'm SO excited. Since
I'm in a marching band, I really don't have much time for other hobbies.
However, I do make time to read, and I also like talking to my friends on the
phone. Well, that's about it. See ya around!!

Howdy, I received my first flute for Christmas... which
means I've been playing piano for 9 years, pennywhistle for 6 months, and flute
for about 11 days. [] I also teach piano lessons and lead my church's
children's choir. On vacation in St. Augustine, I picked up a pennywhistle from
the Castillo de San Marcos as an intriguing souvenir, but when I had played my
favorite song on it by the end of the day, I realized I had something more than
a five dollar trinket. :) From there I just became more and more interested in
the "flute family" of instruments, but was totally shocked to unwrap a real live
flute at Christmas! I found this website looking for absolutely anything that
could help me figure out this new long silver tube with a zillion buttons. [;)]
Blessings, Whistler
