Yea I got back in touch with my friend and my music teacher because I was curious if I was totally remembering this wrong. She got her new Amadeus in March 2010 not in the Fall of 2009 like I was thinking (I blame the fact that I am getting old and time is squishing together in my head  ). Also, my flute teacher did confirm that Steve was involved with them and helped improve them and also told me that the one my friend ended up getting was part of the "first batch" if you will.

Then that sounds about right then. He said that the 'new' ones had been in production for a couple of months and that the official launch would be in August.

It's good to hear that Haynes is cleaning up their act as they have a long standing
history in Boston.

My backup flute is a Haynes (open hole, soldered tone holes) that I bought new in 1972 (pre-Deveau scale).

Please tell us how you like your flute after you receive it.
As is always the case in my life :) , I have decided to re-try the 674HCT and will know more in a couple of weeks if I like it enough to keep it (for the significant increase in cost over the 400 series) and will report back here.

Also investigating the AF-900 Amadeus.

Update:

I know I've gone back and forth on this issue, but I *finally* decided on a flute.

I have ordered an Amadeus AF-900 (silver headjoint and body, low B, C# trill, High E facilitator, offset G, etc.) and should have it soon. For the money, and from what I've heard by talking to some flute professionals, this sounds like a flute that can last me for a long time (I'm not a professional).

Thanks, everyone, for your patience in listening to my rants here, but I'll update *again* after the instrument is in my hot little hands. :)

Thanks, Arlee! :)

I also just learned that they are shipping a new headjoint in the new year but that they're making an exception and sending it for me now. I don't know the details but all I've heard is that it's "better". We shall see.

I created a new thread here: http://www.fluteland.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6173 to only discuss the Amadeus AF-900 which I picked up today, to keep it separate from the Yamaha discussion.

What you give is a excellent performance, not instrument.
So as long as you play a good role in it ,is enough.
