minor scales
Are you doing harmonic or melodic minor scales? Or both? I
always thought that minor was minor until my daughter's violin teacher started
really working her minor scales. I was quite humbled. Are you working from a
scale book, or just trying to play them from memory? If it "just doesn't sound
right", try working from a book, and thinking of it more like a song at first.
It will come eventually. Not easily, but eventually!

Minor scales tend to sound.... sad or mysterious.... and
major scales sound happy and upbeat... just allow them to have their individual
characteristics... i don't think there is really a way to accept it other than
allowing them to be what they are.... if you start with the major scale C and
make it minor by starting it on A then you will be able to hear the difference
repeated... both C Major and A (Natural) Minor have no sharps and no flats in
the key signature... Does that help????
