HI!
I was going to buy a Sankyo 401 next week, but ALL the prices have inflated $2000 - $3000 everywhere!!
Fluteworld, nyflute center, music123... everywhere!!
Does anyone know why?!
I'm freaking out! I've JUST saved up and ready to get the flute, but all of a sudden they're now super duper more expensive!
Also, does anyone know about the new Crystal Light Sankyo flute and pricing?
Will it be available online anytime soon?
And with Piccolo, I was thinking of either getting a Pearl Piccolo PFP-105 or Yamaha YPC-62 Piccolo and I'm stumped! Can anyone please give me pros and cons of both and suggestions on which one to get for Orchestra/Wind band/Exams
Also, the difference between Grenadilla wood and Grenaditte
Thanks for any help!

Re: Sankyo Flute Prices Inflation/Piccolo - Pearl or Yamaha?
Very strange indeed. I think maybe it might be because of the consequences of the recent earth quake.
I'm in direct contact with Sankyo people lately. If you're still interested I'll ask them about the models you want.
Le me know about your interest at my personal e-mail: zevang@hotmail.com

Thanks very much Zevang!
I've emailed you about the flute details
Also, you said on another post a friend of yours purchased a Di Zhao flute?
How is that going? Do you know anyone with the Piccolos?
Thanks

The 105 is not wood. That's the main difference aside from Price and the general difference in Brands. The Yamaha is a traditional mechanism while the Pearl is Pinless.o7nesss wrote:HI!

Grenaditte was produced to approximate grendailla wood's sound qualities without the problems associated with stability of real wood in changing environments over time.
Regarding Sankyo...They've been all around the block with distribution. They finally have a new distributor and back with an old distribution model. It's too bad really. I agree that they make great flutes. It's just seems that their marketing decisions are shall we say, not the best...
Well that's my opinion. I'm work for a competitor. But I am also an insider...and that's about all I will say...

I've forwarded your message to my contact (copied to you). Let's see if things work for you now.
About the Di Zhao piccolos, I currently don't know anyone here using them. But the flutes are getting more and more popular.
I tried this flute for my student and found it to be very good. I just can't tell about its longevity, because they are relatively new in the market.
I tried an all wood DiZhao flute. Ended up buying only the headjoint that fitted perfectly to my backup flute (a Muramatsu EX).
I've heard that the body of this wood flute is now properly adjusted and will come to me for another trying session. Let's see if it impresses me. I'll let you know.
cheers
Re: Sankyo Flute Prices Inflation/Piccolo - Pearl or Yamaha?
Yea I found out its because of new distributor for the US
... Too bad, because of the prices I'm now considering a new flute (It was between a Sankyo and a Powell anyway)
Now I'm torn between the Powell Signature and Conservatory
(Many have told me to go for the Conservatory...I think it was just because its the better of the two, but I felt I played better with the Signature. I'll have to try the 3 different headjoints with the Conservatory and see how i go )
And I'll most likely get the Pearl piccolo because you can have 4 seasons in a day in Sydney haha So i guess that won't be good for the wood
Thanks so much for everyones help!
