Miyazawa or Powell Sonare?

Miyazawa in my opinion is the best. Yes, I'm a bit biased because I play a Miyazawa, but you must at least acknowledge that you are comparing a low level professional model flute (Miyazawa) to a high end intermediate model flute (Sonare). One is 'completely handcrafted' and one is 'partially handcrafted.'

In my opinion, there's no comparison. You will undoubtedly have more room to grow with a high quality entry level 'pro' flute than a flute with an entry level 'pro' headjoint and a middle grade 'step up' body and foot.

I am also a Miyazawa owner, but have tired and owned LOTS of flutes!

I never cared much for hybred flutes(Azumi, Amadeus, Brio, Sonare, etc...). What is the use in paying $2000 for a supposedly "Hand Cut Headjoint" on a mediocre body. I can see upgrading the headjoint on a mediocre flute that you already have, but to buy it new makes no sense to me. For the same, a little bit more, money you can get into a Pearl 765 Coda, Jupiter 711, Yamaha YFL500, or of course a Miyazawa! All entry level "Pro Quality" Flutes....at least by classical standards I guess..LOL

There are many offerings in this price range that I have been impressed with. However, between the 2 mentioned, the Miyazawa wins hands down. I am not saying the Sonare is junk. You could get a flute that is a lot worse! The Miyazawa is just a more complete package.
