My daughter (12) is just starting out and we have the choice of buying a Jupiter 511RBS, Jupiter CEF551E, or a Yamaha 261/281. I am completely inexperienced with flutes and would love any advice to help us make a decision. We are trading in a viola with rental credit to be able to buy the flute which is why these seem to be nicer models (I think). Thanks!

I'm new one here too, but have been playing the flute for going on 20 years. I think all 3 are good choices for a beginner, and I don't think you'd go wrong with anyone of them. Jupiter and Yamaha are both good and respected brands. Personally, I would pick one with an offset g as I find it more comfortable since I have small hands.
