I can''t seem to find any music for a grade 4 player
(12th grader) I''m an 8th grader and getting tired of playing things that
don''t challenge me enough. I just got finished playing a grade four solo and
I want something else of that sort in my repertoire. Any suggestions. Also our
local music stores don''t carry many advanced pieces. I''ve only found a
couple. Any links to good sheet music stores on the internet will be greatly
appreciated. Thank you Leanne

Hi Leanne- I have 1 site for you. You could go to
fluteworld.com. Fluteworld.com has practically millions of music offers. When
you get on the site, then click on "sheet music." It will also give you books.
You can simply browse, or you can type in a specific name of a book that you are
looking for. Fluteworld even has a scale of your specific levels of playing.
I'm not sure if it's the same grade level scale that you go by, but if you
just read what each level is like, then you'll probably understand. For
example, it will probably say something like: Level 1, beginner. Level 2,
intermediate, and so on. I hope that this helped. Good luck!!! []

the degree of difficulty. http://www3.telus.net/Garry_McKevitt/#repertoire As

Thanx for your help! I've been to fluteworld before, but
I've never tired ne of their music. I'm kinda worried that if I get something
too hard or too easy, that they won't let me return it... I guess they will,
but all the mess with copyright and stuff might get in the way. Oh, I also
enjoyed looking at the repertorie of flute solos. Most of them I already have,
and the description helps a lot. Well, thank you. Your advice helps a lot.

You've only been playing for three years and you're
already playing Grade 4 music without a challenge? I feel inferior now as I've
been playing four and I have difficulty enough playing Grade 4, let alone sight
reading it. But you can search around online for flute repertoire lists. Here's
my honor band repertoire: - Bernstein. Candide Suite - Shostakovich. Folk Dances
- Berlioz. Rokoczky March - Rodgers. Victory at Sea - Mennin. Canzona - Handel.
Music for the Royal Fireworks - Back. Toccata and Fugue in d minor - Erickson.
Toccata for Band - Griffes. Poems

Leanne~ I don't know if you have tried this yet but I
use Fluteworld alot as guide for what level music I want to buy. I find a piece
that I already have and go and see what level they (Fluteworld) classify it as.
Then I know what I am getting as far as difficulty when searching through their
titles. Kim
