Top register help

Post by Morne »

Hi all...

I'm having trouble with the top register... basically from G3 up (the notes below are fine).
What happens is the aperture/hole in my lips seems to collapse and the lips buzz together and make this awful "pppppppp" sound - like saying "p" and forcing air out the mouth.
When I play long tones, this happens as well as when I'm working on Taffanel/Gaubert and Moyse.

What can I do to fix this? It never happened when I played back in high school and even over the years it didn't... but since coming back seriously to flute (about a year ago now), this has started. And I play long tones everyday, every practice session - in all registers (Like in Moyse - De la Sonorité).

Any ideas?

Thanks so much
