Delayed low note normal?

Post by leafblower »

Is it normal that there's a slight delay to produce the lower notes? I notice that when I try to play low notes first, there's a delay between sounding airy and sounding properly. The delay gets longer the lower the note... well, at least up to C# since I still can't play C. The delay isn't there when I'm going down from a higher note.

Am I supposed to learn to eventually get rid of that delay? Blowing a bit harder just produces the higher note.

It's normal at first, producing solid low notes immediately take practice and repetition. I would suggest go from a b flat and work your way slowly downasfar as u can go, until you get all the notes immediately and then pick up the tempo and make it shorter.. it's very annoying at first but after awhile it's rewarding.

Also as your working down try to keep volume, tone color, and intensity. Stay on a note until it sounded like the one before.
