Are we undergoing a structural shift in flute design/build?
Just a Q I'm throwing out there.
Are we undergoing a structural shift of sorts in the flute industry the likes of the shift we saw in the last century from the wooden flutes to metal?
Are we going metal to smart materials (whatever that means?) in the name of ergonomics, economics and ease of maintenance?
Are our beloved metal flutes (at risk of or) fast becoming artefacts or potential Louis Lot candidates to be kept for the next 60-120 years to attain certain collectible status.
Love my flutes.

You'll forgive me if I don't hold my breath...
I suspect the different materials will find their niche, and that the old metal flutes will retain their place for some time to come.
But then, I love my metal flutes too...
