Who plays in an orchestra?

What are, or have been some of your favourite pieces
you play with your orchestra?

We played Eine Klein Nacht Musik when I
played in the Youth Symphony, that's a really fun piece.

in my orchestra we play loads of film music,
when we went on tour we played the music from jurassic park, and the year b4 we
played et and indiana jones, at the moment we are playin soirees musicales,
prokofievs romeo and juliet and some of the music from carmen, but i prefer film
music, lol [:)]

How do you like orchestra by the way? Have
you played in band as well? How do you compare the too? In high school we are
going to be allowed to choose which we would prefer to play in (I think, I'm
not sure though)and I need to know one against the other (I already play in a
band)

what exactly do u mean by a band? im british
lol, and i play in a windband...is that the same thing? they r both good but i
do prefer payin in an orchestra, just because of the wider variety of music that
orchestras can play. i should point out though that i am kinda lookin at this
from a slightly different point of view cuz i play the oboe and cor anglais
(english horn) in both orchestra and windband, i dont kno whether mayb if i
played my flute in them that would change my mind...

funny becuz here its the BAND that has the widest variety. Band can play -jazz
-irish -modern and lots more, but I've only heard orchestra play classical
music...don't get me wrong, I'm not insulting orchestra its fine I've just
never heard it play a song without even just a hint of classical. Maybe it's
because orchestra consists of mostly classical instruments whereas band consists
of classical instruments as well as jazz-y ones. By the way, did you know that a
band IS an Orchestra? But when people think band they think clarinets,
trombones, and trumpets and when they think orchestra they think violins, cellos
and string bass.

Orchestra - a large body of
instrumentalists. Yes! A band is an orchestra. However, I'm referring to the
orchestra in the 'Baroque/Classic/Romantic sense. You know, strings, woodwind
etc. So, what has been some of your favourite music you've played in your
orchestra?

My favorite pieces that i played in my
orchestra, are the Rite of Spring, Pines of Rome, Night on Bald Mountain, and
Petrouchka. (alto flute on Rite, and principal on rest) ~AJ

The symphony orchestra I belong to is
currently playing William Tell Overture (which I love, of course!) and this very
cool piece called Finlandia, which I also like very much (unfortunately, I play
pic in orchestra and Finlandia has no pic part[:0]). Perhaps my favorite thing I
have played with the orchestra was Swan Lake...
