I love my Yamaha K headjoint. Had it for about a year now. I used to play with the EC which I also liked. But for my Church playing, I find I get more projection with the K.

Very keen to hear firsthand of the response, and esp the tone colours! How would you describe the headjoint - cut feel and tone?
Which hj would you class the K with eg the Powell Philharmonic or etc?

The tone colors are very warm and (I think) it has a fast response. I can't really compare it to other headjoints, other than to say that I really liked my EC but feel the K is even a step above. I'd suppose as in anything else, you'd have to try it for yourself. But definitely try it if you can!

Thanks, golden flute. Did you try a few before buying. I suppose "each one is different at this handmade level of craftsmanship".goldenflute wrote:"Very keen to hear firsthand of the response, and esp the tone colours! How would you describe the headjoint - cut feel and tone?"

I'd feel more comfortable purchasing from a reputable flute store where you have the ability to speak with flute savvy salespeople and then, try them out for a week or so and be able return them if you aren't completely satisfied. But that's just my own opinion. I think you'll find that if you look around, the prices out there are fairly similar.
