Irish trad on a modern piccolo

Post by Christine88 »

Hello all

I just purchased a Yamaha YPC-61 piccolo on eBay and would like to know how well suited this type of piccolo is for playing Irish music. Any thoughts?

Of course! You can play any music you want on a piccolo. It's more about the style than the instrument. However, if you want to play Irish music in a more traditional manner, buy yourself a tin whistle ($5-$10).

Yes I have a Burke whistle but it's only in one key.

Yes it's wood. I think it's the model that was replaced by the 62.
