New case?
I am in need of a new case for my 1854 Rudall, Rose, and Carte. I don't think any standard 'one size fits all' case will work, as the G mechanism is actually located on the bottom instead of along the top. Also, the footjoint is a bit longer than a standard C footjoint, and it has a conical bore headjoint. I was looking at Northwind cases, as they seem to make them to fit. Is that the best way to go?

Re: New case?
I fully endorse Northwind. They actually make most of the cases for a lot of the higher end flutes and woodwinds on the market. They are indeed made to fit and are extremely high quality. I have seen in the past where a case started to oxidize the platinum in a Burkart flute once, but that was a glue outgassing problem that they swiftly remedied. That was a one time issue in comparison to countless problem-free cases.
If I were you, that's the way I would go.

Re: New case?
Thanks! I sent Jim at Northwind an email, and he had me send him pics and measurements. I'm hoping to hear that he can build a proper case for me. He said that in 35 years of making cases, he's never seen or heard of a G mechanism like mine.
