Hi everyone,
I recently inherited a solid silver Gemeinhardt professional flute. The serial number is 690798. It was purchased in 2005 for $1200. I have the original receipt. I would like to sell this flute, as it has no sentimental value to me. However, I have no idea how much money this flute might be worth now (I'm assuming much less). It has not been serviced since 2005 and so probably needs new pads at least. Can anyone suggest or point me to where I might determine a fair selling price for the flute? Also, do you have any suggestions for where to sell it?
Thank you ,
Danielle

Re: Question about flute value - solid silver, Gemeinhardt
Need more info on the flute before anyone can venture any suggestions or recommendations of fair market value. Is it an open holed flute...does it have a B-Foot.....The model # would be most important to know.
Once you have this info you can do a search on Ebay under "sold" listings and see what prices that model has recently commanded.
Ciao,
Mark

Once you figure out the model number (might have to visit local music instrument store), you can search eBay to see what they have been selling for.

A typical reseller formula is it's worth half of what you can buy a new one for if it's in perfect condition. (Not MSRP but actual advertised selling price) From there deduct for condition, repairs, etc. If you are using a reseller expect to pay them commission off the sale too, another 20-30%
