I' ve been playing flute for a while now but about a week ago my tone suddenly changed. It sounds really sharp,thin and squealy. I check my tuner and i almost always in tune. My second and third octives sound the worst. They sound really sharp and squealy. I checked my apeture in the mirror and it looks like a thin staight line. I have a lesson teacher but he just told me to pull my corners down, but that didn't help. I've tried moving my mouth in different positions but that did'nt help either. Can anyone help or give sugestions?

Do you have an experienced flute playing friend who can check out your instrument for you? Maybe you can trade instruments just to see if you have the same problem on their flute. When I do this I use Mi-T-Mist mouthpiece cleaner between players. Good luck.
