LIFE SUCKS
Today, was chair placements and I got last chair. The girl who beat me never practiced or even played. Last time she cried through her playing test. My friend is a Sophomore and got 1st chair and my other friend got 4th. I just find it hard that even when I try they still beat me without trying or practicing.

I am sorry for you.
You may like to try and see it this way: now that you sit rock bottom, it can only get better.
Seriously, ask the person who decides on the chairs what specific points you could work on to have a better chance of getting a higher chair next time.

Sorry about the bad results for you.
Sometimes people just have more raw talent than you. My nef practices his baseball like a fiend, probably the baseball equivalent of Sir James Galway's flute practicing. Yet there's other young men on the team better than him, because he has few athletic genes from either parent's families, while those others do.
I know it's hard, but try to be happy for your friends. And don't allow being placed in last chair to define your flute playing, or your worth. Only YOU can define your self-worth, not your teacher or your friends or a chair.

I feel really bad for you. That's how it usually is. My advice is to work harder. Become the best player you can be. Put 110% into your interment. If you do this the band director will notice
Re: LIFE SUCKS
In some situations, it is not better to put the best people in the top positions. Especially if it is an exceptional player in a mediocre group. I would not take it personally. Just make sure you play your part as flawlessly as possible, be an example and show the kind of leader you can be.
As long as you can play, life does not suck...that much

No matter what, stay with your passion. You may not always get “top dog” placement, but as long as you’re happy and enjoying what you’re doing, that’s what matters.
There really isn’t any point in doing anything in your life that doesn’t bring you bliss, except for those things that you HAVE to do, because life has a tendency to throw them at you.
Sometimes it’s worth it, to step back and look at things from a broader lens. This might be one of those
