Cork in headjoint ?

Post by Carpii »

Hi, Im really new to playing flute. I see a lot of
talk about people adjusting the cork in their headjoint, or other references to
it. I have a closed hole flute, and cork is nowhere to be seen, inside or out.
Can I assume cork is only in the headjoints of open holed flutes ? Or is my
flute horribly flawed ? ;-) Thanks

Cork in headjoint ?

I believe the cork is located in the end of your
headjoint. There is a crown on the end of the headjoint that unscrews. I have
never taken mine off to verify this but it is what I have read. Kim

Cork in headjoint ?

Thanks for this. I did suspect the cork might be in
that position, but when I looked down the inside length of the headjoint, I
thought I could see the concave inner area of the crown. But now I look closely,
and use the cleaning rod to measure it, this silver area isnt the inside of the
crown like I thought, but it actually stops short by a couple of inches, leaving
room for this cork between it and the crown surface. Cheers
