improving breathing in legato playing.

Post by mai »

hello everyone! I''m new to
this site and a flute beginner.. this is my first message :) so first, nice
meeting you all! my question is about breathing when playing a legato passage. I
play a 6/8 line, that repeats itself 4 times like a loop, I only use my tongue
for the very first ntoe of the piece, but it''s hard for me to hit it the 4th
time and sometimes even the 3rd.. if I play it faster it becomes easier but I
know it''s not the way of practicing. I know you should breath through your
stomach to provide long tones, but are there more ways to improve breathing in
legato playing?

Yes, there are many. -Search
for an old thread called straws, bubbles, and balloons or something those are
some fun ways But my personal favorite is Sip breaths take in as much air as you
can wait 1-2 seconds and take a sip of air as big as you cane wait 1-2 seconds
and take another breath hold for 2-3 seconds and then slowly release the air
going ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss hope i can help
