Mr Hollands Opus Music

Post by Claiken »

Does anyone know what "Rowena's Theme" was actually called? Its a simple-er tune but its awesome & would be fun to learn on piano. Was it composed for the movie? If anyone knows that would be great! (I know that this isnt flute related but its still music!)

From what I read in the credits, it was actually written for the film. As of yet, I havent found sheet music [or else I would have bought it because I love that theme from the movie].

Several months ago, I did an arrangement of it for Flute and Piano, but then my computer crashed about a week ago, so I lost it.

But, the piece is on the sound track for Mr. Holland's Opus. As I understand it, there are two soundtracks for that film and that piece is only on one of them.

I love "Rowena's Theme"! As fluteguy said above... if it was in print, I'd have a copy of it. LOL!

It sucks that his arrangement was lost.

If anyone finds it anywhere, please post on here and say something about it - that is definately something I want to add to my sheet music collection.

Rowena's Theme, as well as the very ending piece (Mr Hollands Composition with all the classes he taught) are my favorites. Thats so awesome you were able to arrange it! Do you know what key its in? Or did you choose your own key?

Id love to learn the piano part, but even better to be able to play flute with it for my recital! that would be awesome!!

I think it is in E minor. Well, at least that is the key that I arranged it in, and that is the key that part of the sheet music is in [if you pause the movie, there is one place where you can see the sheet music] in the film.

The repeated bass line that you hear is A A B C A

The first A, is in the staff of the bass clef, and is a whole note. The second A is the A below middle C and comes in on the upbeat of 1. The third A, is the A in the treble staff.

the time signature is 3/4.

If I can get my printer setup on my computer [my computer recently crashed, and I am having to reload everything], I will write out the bass line on staff paper for you, and will scan it on here.

Oh, would you? That would be so kind of you!!!

Even though its a simpler tune, theres something about it - like it almost makes me want to learn it just listening to it in the movie! Is that weird? I guess the song itself kind of causes an inspiring type of mood. At least with me.

I found this on sheetmusicplus! There are a whole bunch of different versions, and there's one for flute and piano. Woot!
