Hi,
I posted a previous topic concerning beginner flutes. I have now come across a Selmer Signet Special (1989) with a sterling silver head. It seems to be in excellent condition. Can anyone tell me if this is a quality flute? Is it easy for a beginner? Does it produce good sound? How would you compare it to a Yahama 225 or Armstrong 104?
Thanks
Selmer Signet Special Opinions??

In my experience, Selmer flutes have been absolute dawgs!! (Run away...), but not having played this particular instrument, I won't pass judgement from afar. I'd buy an Armstrong or Yamaha any day before a Selmer, but it may be a perfectly-fine beginner-type instrument. Have a friend or teacher play-test it first.

The Signet series, according to some, were better flutes than the Selmers produced today. However, that has not been my experience. I do not like either the new ones or the old ones. I find them very stuffy sounding and much harder to play. Stick to Yamaha or Armstrong. I think they will be easier to play and give you far less problems in the long run.
