Practicing with a metronome

When practicing with a metronome, should the
noise be whjen the foot strikes the ground or when the foot is in the air? and
when should the note start (if it's 4/4 time with quarter notes)? I used to
start playing notes with my foot in the air, but the nopise came when my foot
hit the ground. This became VERY confusing with sixteenth notes. Please help!

A metronome plays a straight beat and if the
quarter-notes are straight, then you should play each note on the sound of the
beat (when the foot goes down). Similarly, when you play sixteen-notes, you play
the first note on the beat and the other three immediately after, so that the
fifth one comes on the beat again. That is the basic way to do it. When you get
confident, you can experiment with rhythms and so forth, as different rhythms
and types of music have a different feel to it. Hope this helps...

So both the note and the metronome sound
when the foot strikes the ground? Okay, that's what I thought but I wnated to

Going to the metronome site is how I found
fluteland.com! A good student gets their rewards! As a new student, I hope using
fluteland.com will help me progress faster than I would otherwise. I'm beyond
school-age, so I don't have the daily contact with other musicians, so it's a
