This is sort of random...but thats ok. I have been playing flute for about 5 years, and have had this flute, a Sonare, for about a year. However, as of late the pitch is sounding kind of odd. It sounds nearly tinny. I am not really sure if it is me or the flute that is the problem, but any tips are greatly appreciated!!! I have a solo coming up in aobut 3 weeks and want to sound awesome!!

I would suggest having it checked out to see if there are any leaks. I have had a little experience with these flutes, and to me, they have a very big sound in general. You could be experiencing small leaks from the pads wearing down. Simple adjustments could help a great deal.

CaliAlli,

I have just experienced a student with the same complaint about her Sonare that she has had for about four months. Suddenly, the pitch just sounds off (I experienced it myself). We had the flute checked out, and it checked fine, but it still sounds . . . odd. It is very hard to explain. We are currently working on embouchure positions that seem to help. We have also noticed a difference in intonation over the last few weeks. I think she is overblowing causing her to go sharp, but this does not explain the strange tone of the flute.

Are you still having the same problem? If not, how did you remedy it? I am very curious as to anyone else with this same issue and the Sonare.
