Anybody know where I can purchase the sheet music for this concerto? I've googled it and come up with a zillion entries, but they always turn out to either be recordings and/or "out of stock".
This concerto was apparently undiscovered until around 2000 and was recently recorded by Pahud (a recording of all the Telemann concerti that I'd highly recommend).
I just can't seem to get my hands on the music.
Thanks.

Thanks, flutepicc.
Actually, I had already perused the Flute World catalog. One of its most aggravating features, IMO, is that they do not give enough description of what they are selling. There are several entries for Telemann flute concerti in G, but that gives no idea whatsoever as to which piece it actually is. I really wish Flute World would change this; it's the reason I've never ordered from them.
I just sent them a note asking them to verify any of their listing with the actual Telemann catalog number so that I know whether or not they carry it.

I understand. With a bit of research you can also come up with the instrumentation this concerto was meant for, and that may help you determine if it is the proper one or not. As far as I remember (correct me if I'm wrong), though, there is only one concerto by Telemann written in G major (taking out of account those concerti for 2 flutes), so listing it as the Telemann concerto in G is enough description to let you know what you're buying.

You may be right. But with a prolific composer such as Telemann, and a baroque tradition of often interchanging instruments for compositions, it still makes it hard to know what is what. I just don't think it's too much of an imposition to put a composer catolog number in the listing. To me, that's much more helpful than a relatively meaningless "grade" of difficulty these retailers often put on things these days which is so subjective. I'm much more interested in knowing I have purchased the music I wanted than in how hard they think it is to play.
Just my opinion.
In any case, somebody at FluteWorld is working on it with me and they have been very helpful so far, although they have not found it yet.

I agree that it would be helpful to have composer catalog numbers, particularly for music that has been transcribed from other instruments or can have instruments substituted. Maybe while you're in contact with fluteworld you could suggest this to them? The grade system is really meant as a general guide to finding music at approximately the right difficulty for you. Of course, any grading is bound to be extremely subjective, so for some the system undoubtedly helps more than others. Fluteworld's (from what I have experienced) seems to be pretty consistent and well put together, though.

Hi,
I am currently looking for the same concerto and again finding it quite impossible to find scores.
Did you eventually succeed in obtaining scores? Could you direct me where to look for?
Thanks,
Boaz

Are you saying you think the Telemann Concerto was not written by Telemann? If so, what is the basis of your statement?kurasov1965E wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2017 5:47 amRight now, Im focusing on getting some Graupner scores finished - Two cantatas and Violin Concerto.
Im pottering away at the Telemann as I have time - I have the whole of the first movement by far the longest typeset, though. Ive had to make quite a few corrections to the source, though. One part has several missing bars, and another actually has several bars too many, for instance. Im not entirely convinced that it is by Telemann, though.
