Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any flute places/dealers that can be found in the southern Orange County area of California? I am in particuliar looking for Miyazawa, Muramatsu, Sankyo, diMedici, and Altus brands. Even in the Riverside/San Diego areas would be fine as well. Thank You in advance!

Shozo Ogura is the owner and used to be a chief repair person for Muramatsu flutes (he really is an excellent flute technician). He repairs all flutes but also sells Muramatsu, Sankyo, and others in the store. Not the cheapest place but you will have a place to at least try these out. Give them a call before you go since the selection varies.

email these companies or call them. they can give you the info on any AUTHORIZED dealers. Many places sell instruments, but not all of them are authorized. This authorization affects the warranty on the instrument. If it is an UNauthorized dealer, there might not be a warranty, or the taxes on these imported instruments might not have been paid, or they could even be fakes. contact these companies. it is better this way.
It would be great if you can go to a store and try flutes out but if that fails companies like Fluteworld:

have a great trial policy and they carry many of the flutes you mentioned. They are very helpful etc. and one advantage is you can take your time i.e. several days to try the flute out. In my limited experience I found that it took a day or two with a new flute before I got used to the flute, its different dynamics and playability. I don't think an hour in a store would have been the same. On the other hand having the expertise of a knowledable sales person would be really great.
Good luck.
