Gaubert - Nocturne et Allegro Scherzando

Post by FltnPicc_David »

This is the Florida Flute Fair's High School Young Artist Competition piece for next year! I have been working on it and I absolutely LOVE it. Question on the second movement. I simply cant play it at a tempo of 152 with all that double tonguing and whatnot.....should I work up to it??

Start it slowly and increase the speed gradually until you get to where you think it should be. It may be marked at 152, but that doesn't mean you have to play it there. A clean rendition at 138 or 144 should have much better results than a dirty version at 152.

I'm glad I've found this thread. I'm going to perform this recital and have been trying to research information about the peice and why/what inspired it but I havn't been able to find anything. I was hoping someone knew? I have this this interpretation in my head, I was wondering how similar it was :P

I've actually got the same piece for district band auditions. It is a lovely piece.
